April Fools: Bible Geek Edition

There are some funny (depending on your definition of humor) April Fools jokes out there for Bible geeks. One of my favorites is the special sale put on by Eisenbrauns, including a 500 page volume by revered OT scholar A. N. Onymous entitled Obadiah: Verse 1 from the newly created Major Studies on Minor Biblical Books series. With a jab to the particularly enthusiastic visitors he has had recently, Jim West reveals some particularly convincing evidence on the actual location of Gomorrah. Loren Rosen gives us some very interesting news regarding an abrupt about face by Dominic Crossan, who comes clean and admits, “I made a career of ripping off the work of the Context Group and then making nonsense of it. But I’ve seen the light, and hope to redeem myself in the eyes of Malina and Co. I really want to put Jesus in better context.” Tyler Williams, whose birthday is April 1st, reminds us of his Fools’ post last year entitled “David King of Judah” Seal Uncovered. My birthday is on April 3rd. I was just two days late for being an April Fools’ joke. Well, we can’t win ‘em all. Happy reading!
