Mennonite Rap

This is just for fun. Here are some Hesston students putting in their own lyrics to a popular song:

First rap song I’ve ever heard to use the term heilsgeschichte!

    30-31 seconds in. What?!

Do you mean the “we praise the big guy up in the sky” line? I do think that’s probably the worst line in the whole song. It’s not very creative and I’m not sure Mennonites (in reality or stereotypically) think of God as a “big guy” in the “sky”. Oh well. Is that what you were thinking, Doug?

Wow. Okay, so apparently there really is a kind of music Mennonites can’t pull off! Just promise me that you’re not going on tour with Matisyahu. Because I’m pretty sure that’s mentioned somewhere in the end-of-the-world prophesies. Or should be.

    Peace!

Hey, don’t look at me… I’m not in this thing! :) I just think it’s funny.

Yep, definitely one kind of music Mennonites can’t do!

I think Doug had in mind the face in the lap at 30 seconds in. :?

I really loved it. My husband and two teenagers were all watching, our daughter knew the real words. DH thinks it was funny.

I am guessing that the face in the lap at 30 seconds is really a foot washing occuring and a poor camera angle to pick that up. Too bad..foot washing is something that not many churches still do, but yet it is a powerful experience.
