Yes that would be accurate. I consider myself a skeptic, secularist, and atheist. Of course, that doesn't mean I would agree with every atheist argument, or that I would agree with every atheist.

To briefly define terms, "skeptic" means advocating critical/scientific thought, "secularist" means advocating separation of church and state, and "atheist" means not believing in gods. That's more or less representative of the views of the members of BASS, but there's enough diversity that I couldn't possibly speak for the group as a whole.

Thanks for the clarifications, miller. Would it be fair to say that since you are blogging on their site, that you are a skeptic and/or secularist? If that's the case, I respect the fact that you seem to present Bartchy as the one with the better argument. I would hope a theist could do the same if the tables were turned.

I guess I assumed the woman at the end was a theist who thought Bartchy did not believe in God "enough," so to speak. Reading it again, I suppose she could have be interpreted as an atheist (or something) pleased that even the guy defending religion didn't himself believe in God.

Thanks for the debate report!

Two small corrections: The report reflects on my opinions, not necessarily the opinions of BASS. Also, I wasn't really sure that the woman after the debate was a person "of faith" or something else.

I really like Bartchy, by the way. I tried to tell people that the debate would be worth attending just for Bartchy, but I think the Communism turned most of them off.
