My Hometown Bragging Rights

Not that this is particularly relevant to biblical studies, but I have just learned today that my high school (Acton Boxboro Regional in Mass.) has been ranked the #4 public high school out of the entire Northeastern region of the country (take that Lincoln-Sudbury!). Not only that, but Money magazine has ranked the town of Acton, where I grew up, as its #16 best place to live.

We all know that rankings are flawed, but they nevertheless give us bragging rights. Did I mention that my Ph.D. program is in one of the top ten history programs in the nation? All I had to do was tell ‘em I grew up in Action Acton and went to AB. ;)

I wish that top-ten quality would trickle down to the undergrads! Most of what we get is budget cuts, discussion cuts, and overfull classes. One has to fight hard to get into class with a Bartchy, a Ruiz, a Hunt or Jacob.

Warmest congratulations, though. The distinctions I can claim for San Bernardino are few and far between.
